BOOKS FOR WEEK OF NOVEMBER 23RD - Thanksgiving/Gratitude
Do you thank your child when appropriate and express gratitude each day? A young child, even up to age 7, may not fully understand what gratitude is but will learn especially from your example. Gratitude helps offset negativity and can improve one’s life. Each day ask your child what they are thankful for and accept any answer they give: their legs which allow them to jump, a toy, a pet. They are learning gratitude!

Song: If You’re Thankful and You Know It (Tune: “If You’re Happy and You Know It”)
If you’re thankful and you know it clap your hands,
If you’re thankful and you know it clap your hands,
If you’re thankful and you know it, and you really want to show it, If you’re thankful and you know it clap your hands.
Stomp your feet
Jump up and down
Turn around
Reach up high
Shout “Hooray!”
Poem: Thanksgiving
Let’s be thankful
For this day,
For our friends,
And for our play.
Let’s be thankful
Let’s be glad,
For our food,
And the things we have.
Let’s give thanks
For you and me,
And our home And family.
